Proposed Aquatics Center Information Portal
The Wasatch County Council is studying the feasibility of developing a local aquatics center in the Heber Valley. Preliminary studies are been completed and information gathering meetings held to identify the basic data needed to generate concept plans and come up with ideas of what options are available.
This webpage is designed to be an information source for the residents and property owners of Wasatch County concerning the proposed aquatics center. Information including reports, drawings, and public hearing meeting dates will be posted here. Given the pages dynamic nature, we encourage you to check back often to stay informed.
Update, August 23, 2013 - Special Bond Election Resolution Failed to Obtain 2/3 Vote
August 21, 2013 the Wasatch County Council voted on Resolution 13-15 establishing a Special Bond Election to be held November 5, 2013 for a new aquatic center and outdoor recreational facilities. The results of that vote were 4 to 3 (57%) in favor of the resolution. Utah State Law requires a Special Election be approved by a 2/3 majority vote (66%). Therefore, the resolution failed to pass.
The Wasatch County Council was informed of the 2/3 majority requirement after the public meeting, however they had already scheduled a public hearing to take public comment on the issuance of these bonds. The resolution, failing to pass eliminates the need for a public hearing. The public hearing has been canceled and there will be no Special Bond Election held November 5, 2013 for a new aquatics center and outdoor facilities.
We are sorry for any confusion caused by this unusual situation. We believe Wasatch County is a great place to live, work, and play and our desire is to provide the best possible service to the residents, business and property owners and visitors of Wasatch County while maintaining compliance with the laws of the State of Utah.
The Aquatics Center Concept plans are based on using the old Wasatch County Fairgrounds (located on the west side of Heber City) for the aquatics center, athletics fields, and parks areas.
