Harrison and LaRee Pedro

The 2011 Wasatch County Fair Days Grand Marshals are Harrison and LaRee Pedro. 

    Harrison is an avid sportsman and loves the mountains.  As Harry and LaRee traveled Utah, they were looking for a place to finish Harry's career as a Postmaster, then retire in "peace and tranquility".  The perfect opportunity opened up when Harry was given the position as Postmaster in the new Wallsburg Post Office in 1984.  The Pedro family moved to Wallsburg at that time and eventually built their home,  the “Circle P Ranch.”

    Harry served in the Utah Air Force National Guard, and has held numerous positions with various rodeo organizations around the State of Utah.  He has even judged our very own Fair Days Dutch Oven Contest!   Harrison retired from the Postal Service in 1998. He has served his church in four different Bishopric's and many other capacities.

    LaRee earned her PhD at Weber State and holds other educational certifications.  She also volunteered with Rodeos and Queen contests throughout the state, as well as sharing her time with the Miss West Jordan and Miss Utah Pageants.  Within Wasatch County she served on the Jordanelle Reservoir Development Committee, the Heber Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Wasatch Community Foundation, the Daughter of the Utah Pioneers, and was the Fair Days Talent Find director for many years.   LaRee continues to be busy with church and community responsibilities.

    This year marks their 54th wedding anniversary. Married August 16, 1957, Harry and LaRee have four children, Brett (deceased Oct. 24, 2006) (Linda Ryan), Shelly (Kevin McCann), Blair, and Blake. Eight Grandchildren (Nathan, Kasandra, Megan, Jamie, Aleshia, Tim, Lindsay, Makayla), and Three Great Grandchildren (Jordan, Timi, Alizay).

     Since retirement, Harry and LaRee find much to do around the ranch. They look forward to making friends and relatives welcome at their annual "Family and Friends cook-out" reunion each summer. They continue to enjoy the Wallsburg valley with all who come to know its beauty.
